High Desert Christian Academy would like to thank our families and community for 32 wonderful years in God’s service. We would like to address the confusion in the community and truthfully share.

The history of the two Christian schools in Prineville is actually a shared legacy. Our school was established in 1994. We became autonomous and changed our name in 2015, but we remained in the same location with the same staff and student families for seven additional years. In 2022 we lost our lease and were forced to move from that location. We conducted school in three separate community churches for one school year. The school operating in our former location was established in 2022 and applied to take back the original name.

As for our closure, the enormous lease payment increase, facility expenses as well as lower enrollment has forced us to close our doors. When we signed the lease to purchase in 2023 we believed we had an avenue lined up to purchase the building. In the end this did not transpire.

As far as all the negative social media regarding financial mismanagement and alleged inappropriate behavior by a staff member: they are absolutely unfounded and false. Accusations were formally investigated by DHS and OTIS and fully dismissed; including a dated documentation signed from the Crook County District Attorney. Our executive HDCA staff and board are grieved by so many false narratives that continue to be perpetuated by misinformation. Our prayer is that God’s Truth be revealed and His Justice prevail. Our hope is that forgiveness and divine healing will triumph.
